The Art and Architecture foundation programme PROGRESS is created by UJOP Charles University experts in cooperation with university faculties. It is designed for you if you already possess B1 level Czech and wish to deepen your academic language skills and prepare for university studies in architecture, design, visual arts, theatre, film, music, photography, dance, art history, cultural studies, and related creative disciplines in Czech at Czech universities.

The programme combines intensive Czech language preparation, portfolio development, academic subject tuition, and full support to help you successfully enter Czech higher education and adapt to life in Czechia.

What will you study?

To study art and architecture for free at Czech universities, you need strong Czech language skills, a solid academic background together with artistic knowledge and creative thinking.

 

The programme therefore combines intensive Czech language preparation with subjects that help students develop their portfolio, artistic knowledge, and understanding of culture and society.

 

All subjects of this Art and Architecture foundation programme PROGRESS are taught in Czech. Since students enter with B1 Czech, the language of instruction follows university-level expectations from the beginning and focuses on academic language and critical and creative thinking.

Do you meet the entry requirements?

• Completed high school before the start of the programme. (You may apply before graduation.)

• At least B1 level Czech. If you do not already have a recognised B1 Czech certificate, your language level will be assessed by UJOP as part of the admission process before the programme starts.

• No English language level is required.
• Have a solid high-school foundation in relevant academic subjects (See the list of topics here) and proven interest in creative or artistic fields.
• You must turn at least 17 years old by 31 December of the year you begin your studies at UJOP Charles University. Younger applicants are assessed individually.

Czech language outcomes

At the end of the programme, you will take a Czech language exam. Successful students will receive a certificate recognised by more than 80 faculties.

The Art and Architecture foundation programme PROGRESS is designed to help students progress from B1 to B2 level Czech. Students' progress depends mainly on their motivation, regular study, language aptitude, and previous experience with learning foreign languages.
