Myint Myat enrolled in the Engineering and IT in English FAST foundation programme in 2024 and successfully entered Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of technology in the spring of 2025.
Here's what she wrote in her motivation letter on why she wanted to study in Czechia "I was always fascinated by how houses and buildings were designed and I have a dream to build my own house with excellent architectural skill that’s why I want to study this major in future. And I believe engineering and architecture is related since both require high understanding of math and physics that’s why I chose this Foundation course".
We are grateful to our student for sharing how her enrollment went.
There were 2 parts for my exam. One is homework assignment and other one is interview. I had to join the teams meeting for the instructions for exam. The teams account UJOP gave me was useful. Since i’m going for architecture major I had to practice drawing, sketching and design thinking. There were 2 homework assignments and for the first part I only had to draw, so it was easy but for the second part they told us ( applicants ) to make a physical model which i’ve never done before. I was really surprised and felt unprepared but I had to make a model within 48 hours. I tried my best and submitted it but I was unsure if I will pass or not. I felt so relieved and proud when I passed the first part. So I successfully got invited to the second part which is interview.
The English courses from UJOP really helped me for the second part. Since i had to practice speaking in class and gained more confident in my English speaking, I didn't feel so nervous for interview. I had to explain my design and other general questions . I also passed the second part with good marks. It was wonderful experience. After I passed both parts I needed to send my documents to school for final decision and miss Ivana Štiková from administration office helped me with that. Finally, I got into university, it was a dream come true. I put all my effort into it and worked really hard. All my hard work paid off. I’ve never felt this proud of myself
"I think that without studying at UJOP, I wouldn't have been able to get a good result in the AVU entrance exam. I had a B2 level which made me understand everything they asked me in the exams.
During the three semesters I learned to communicate in the Czech language. We also learnt practical skills, such as how to make phone calls or write emails in Czech. I remember how we tried to make a doctor's appointment, a hairdresser's appointment, order some goods, book a table in a restaurant... In addition, we also learned interesting things about Czech culture. I am also still in contact with several former classmates, friends from UJOP. Teachers at UJOP are very nice, kind and, in my opinion, they love their job. I could also experience different activities like concerts and exhibitions. I also remember meeting Czech students."
"The portfolio preparation courses proved to be the most useful for the entrance exam to the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague. We received a lot of practical advice and real examples of past students' work and tackled potential questions from the admissions committee. I got 4 out of 5 points in the interview and was admitted to a university I never dreamed of two years ago."
