Reskilling training fundamentally changes the quality of life for Ukrainian women

Nearly three dozen Ukrainian women in the Czech Republic successfully completed a 60-hour Czech language reskilling course organized by the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies Charles University. On 31 March, a small ceremony was held in the Voršilská Study Centre to celebrate the end of the course, where the students received their official certificates of attendance.

How Joey from Swamps brought Bence to Prague

One day, Bence Bolla spotted a notice on the website of the Loránd Eötvös University of Budapest that the Erasmus+ application process was open and students could submit their applications. He decided to test his knowledge of Czech Studies and applied for an internship at the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies Charles University.

Representatives of the University of Pardubice presented their study fields at ILPS

After a pause caused by the pandemic, we renewed the tradition of promoting the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice at the study centres of the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies in Prague and Poděbrady. Alena Komersová, Associate Professor, Vice-Dean for External Relations and head ofthe Department of Physical Chemistry visited both centres and introduced their faculty.

Czech Republic is the most popular country for Kazakh students to study

Hundreds of people crowded the stand of the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies during the presentation tour of Kazakhstan. The great interest in our preparatory courses at the Begin Edu Fairin Astana and Almaty was confirmed by the results of a survey conducted by the European Commission, according to which the Czech Republic is the most popularcountry in the world for Kazakh students to study.

The Association of Teachers of Czech as a Foreign Language celebrated its 20th anniversary

The celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Association of Teachers of Czech as a Foreign Language, which is a professional interest organization of teachers at all levels and types of schools and educational institutions, started with a festive conference held on 18 February at the Impact Hub in Smíchov. The symposium was also the 80th meeting of the Association.

ILPS held the first international language Staff Week 2023

In the week of 6 -10 February 2023, the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University hosted the first start-up Staff Training Week aimed at improving English communication skills of university staff. This year's course was attended by 7 representatives of partner universities from 4 countries, namely France, Italy, Poland and Romania.

"Day of Czechs abroad"

Did you know that February 4th is the Day of Czechs abroad? But, it is not officially recognized yet. Still, this date was chosen by Czechs living abroad. February 4, 1628 is the day when Jan Amos Komenský left the Czech Republic. About 2.5 million people with Czech descent live currently abroad. Charles University also contributes to strengthening the cultural and linguistic ties of Czechs living abroad with their historical homeland.Our Summer Czech Course for Czech Expatriates serves this purpose.
