A trip to Pilsen for art, education, markets and beer

On Friday, 8 November, students of the humanities and art preparatory courses of ÚJOP took a traditional all-day field trip to Pilsen, which included a visit to two universities and the Pilsner brewery.

They set off in a cheerful mood from the Prague Krystal Centre, where they were picked up by two buses. After arriving in Pilsen, the students divided into two groups, those preparing for the arts and students of humanities preparatory courses.

Six students from the preparatory course for art and architecture met with the prominent teacher Nonna Lorenz, who took them to the doors open day at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. Here they did not only get the chance to absorb the creative atmosphere of the faculty, but also received a professional opinion on their portfolios and learned about other possibilities to study and create at this art school.

Participants of the humanities preparatory courses went to the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of West Bohemia and attended a detailed lecture on the possibilities of studying in Pilsen. The history of the university, the opportunities that Pilsen offers and the study programmes were presented to the students by the dean PhDr. David Šanc, Ph.D. and the head of the Krystal Study Centre Mgr. Petra Landergott Kalvínská.

Afterwards, the two groups reunited at the Republic Square in Pilsen to enjoy the Martin market and to buy souvenirs.

The trip ended with a visit to the Pilsner Brewery, where they learned about the production of one of the most famous beers in the world. The students were guided through the entire beer production process and visited the brewery's cellars.

The trip was finally finished when they arrived back at the Prague Krystal Centre.
