On Wednesday, October 1, the traditional Opening of the 2025/26 Academic Year at Charles University took place at the Hybernská Campus, where the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies (UJOP) offered a helping hand to both international and Czech students.
As part of the event, the CU Diversity Market was held, introducing new students to various student associations and other university organizations that connect Czech and international students.

Since 2001, the European Day of Languages has been marked every year on September 26. This celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity across Europe took place once again this year, and as in previous years, the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University (UJOP) was among the partners of the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic, the main organizer of the event.

On Friday, September 19, 24 participants of the Erasmus Staff Week gathered at the Voršilská Chapel. The course is designed for administrative staff from European universities who wish to improve their English and bring it to a higher level. Participants gain new language skills to enhance and streamline communication with students and colleagues, expand their vocabulary related to administrative work, and acquire practical competencies such as effective email communication in English, delivering proper presentations, and engaging in discussions with colleagues and students.

On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Czech national anthem resounded through the Great Hall of Karolinum as more than 300 international students rose to ceremoniously mark the beginning of their stay in the Czech Republic and their studies in the foundation courses of the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies (ÚJOP) at Charles University. The new students, representing more than 60 countries, were formally welcomed into the academic community of Charles University not only by Eva Voldřichová Beránková, Vice-Rector of Charles University for International Affairs, but also by Dana Hůlková Nývltová, Director of UJOP, and by two graduates of last year’s foundation programmes.
