UJOP students enthusiastically explore the Santini exhibition at the National Technical Museum

On Wednesday, November 20, students from the arts and humanities preparatory courses at UJOP visited the National Technical Museum to deepen their understanding of Czech culture and history, enriching their studies at UJOP.

The highlight of the excursion was a visit to the exhibition "Santini and the World of His Architecture (1723-2023)", created to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the famous Czech architect.

The exhibition featured models of all of Santini's buildings, with a special focus on the pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená Hora near Žďár nad Sázavou, his most famous work and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After exploring the Santini exhibition, the students were free to roam the museum and explore its other interesting displays. These included exhibits on historic cars, astronomy, printing and the development of household appliances in the Czech Republic.

The students clearly enjoyed the trip, as evidenced by an essay written by Valerie, a student in the preparatory course, who shared her personal perspective on the excursion to the National Technical Museum that day:

Včera jsem byla na skvělé exkurzi do Národního Technického Muzeu. Byla to opravdu zajímavá a informativní návštěva. Nejdřív jsem šla na výstavu "Santini a jeho svět architektury". Tato výstava ukazovala práci architekta Jana Santiniho, který tvořil krásné budovy. Bylo zajímavé vidět jeho návrhy a dozvědět se více o jeho životě a díle.

Pak po výstavě Santiniho jsem šla do hlavní části muzea. Tam jsem viděla mnoho historických exponátů. Byla tam stará auta, která byla velmi pěkně zachovaná. Některá auta vypadala opravdu elegantně, jiná zase velmi prakticky. Také jsem viděla stará letadla, která byla velmi zajímavá. Bylo zajímavé si představit, jak lidé létali v minulosti.

Další zajímavostí byly staré fotoaparáty. Byly opravdu krásné a ukazovaly, jak se fotografování vyvíjelo. Uviděla jsem také tiskařské stroje, které se používaly k tisku knih a novin. V muzeu byly také staré kuchyňské nábytky, které ukazovaly, jak vypadala domácnost dříve.

Byla to velmi zajímavá exkurze a určitě bych ji doporučila každému!
