Medicine studies in Hradec Králové - a great choice!

They want to become a doctor and help people, but first they decided to join the preparatory programme for medical and pharmacy studies at the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies. Now the students are facing a difficult decision as to which of the medical faculties in the Czech Republic they choose for their study. A visit to the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Králové helped them to get acquainted with the study conditions and student life.

On Thursday, 15 February, the Hradec Králové Faculty held a doors open day for foreign applicants. In the morning hours, students from the centres in Poděbrady and Prague filled the Great Auditorium in the premises of the building of theoretical institutes in Šimkova street, where Professor Emil Rudolf, Vice Dean for Studies in English, was already waiting for them. "Welcome to my alma mater," he opened the program and added: "I have had the opportunity to speak online with many of you who are studying in Poděbrady and I am glad to meet you now in person. In just a moment we will show you what our faculty has to offer, and you will also have plenty of time to ask questions about anything that you are interested in."

After the brief introduction, the students divided into small groups and went on a tour of the faculty accompanied by medics. During the excursion they had the opportunity to visit the departments of anatomy, biophysics, physiology and the simulation centre. The students could not miss the great opportunity to discuss with the accompanying medics during the tour and also to actively participate in practical activities at the various workplaces. The virtual autopsy table, where participants could simulate an autopsy on a display, and the virtual patients in the simulation centre were the most exciting experiences.

After the tour of the department, the students were given an overview presentation of the study programmes of the Faculty of Medicine Hradec Králové in the Great Auditorium, which other candidates joined online.
