Exploring the Czech University of Life Sciences: A Global Hub for Education

The Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU) in Prague is a place where diverse career paths come to life - from professional gamekeeping and tropical agriculture to IT, economics, and technology. One-third of CZU’s students and faculty hail from abroad, making it a vibrant international community.

On February 6, 2025, a group of students enrolled in technical and economic preparatory courses had the chance to visit this dynamic campus firsthand.

The day was guided by Mgr. Ľubomír Majerník, a CZU alumnus, who shared his experience and introduced the university to the group. The tour began with a walk around the campus, where students visited the main faculty buildings, enjoyed a peek at the university’s canteen with its own pizzeria, and the on-site restaurant, which uses produce grown directly at CZU.

The heart of the visit was a gathering on the top floor of the Rector’s Office building with a breathtaking view of Prague. The students sat around an oval table and listened to three current CZU students: one from the doctoral programme, one from the master’s programme, and one from the bachelor’s programme. They shared valuable insights into the university’s faculties, study programmes, the admission process, and student life.

The tour continued with visits to various facilities on the campus, including the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences and the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences. The group also had the opportunity to explore greenhouses, sheep pens, and even pig and cow enclosures.

The enjoyable afternoon wrapped up with a visit to the Faculty of Economics and Management, where current students recommended the university's website for those interested in learning about the programmes offered: budpefak.pef.czu.cz.
