VŠE in Focus – A Visit to the University of Economics in Prague

As part of their preparatory courses, UJOP students have the chance to visit universities that they might apply to. This is an excellent opportunity for them to expand their academic horizons and gather valuable information, for example about admission procedures and tips on student life.

One such visit took place on Friday, February 7, 2025, when UJOP students from the economic preparatory programmes toured the University of Economics (VŠE).

The day’s programme was split into two parts.

First, students attended a presentation about the University of Economics, where they learned about all the faculties, the study programmes offered in either Czech or English, and received comprehensive information on the admission requirements. Everyone was impressed to find out that VŠE alumni include two former Czech presidents, six former prime ministers, and all the governors of the Czech National Bank. The presentation also included a quiz, with small rewards for the lucky winners.

In the second part of the visit, UJOP students had the chance to speak directly with current VŠE students from different faculties. This interaction proved to be very helpful, as the students asked questions about life at VŠE, from academics and accommodation to balancing work and study.

The guided tour was led by VŠE students, who showed the group around the university building. They explored everything from large lecture halls and classrooms to the canteen, library, and Coworking Idea Fair, where students meet to collaborate on projects and presentations, share ideas and experiences, and discuss everything from academics to life in Prague. Some students even decided to buy a booklet with practice tests to help prepare for their upcoming entrance exams.
