The youngest centre of the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies at Charles University celebrated the 15th anniversary of its founding last week. Alumni from multiple study years returned to Krystal to take part in the event, which included refreshments and an accompanying programme at the Krystal restaurant. The Centre’s Director Petra Landergott Kalvínská opened the evening by greeting guests and acknowledging the teachers who helped shape the centre from its earliest days. The celebration continued with musical performances: a vocal piece by alumna Diana Dymyrova and a clarinet performance by alumnus Yuki Kanada.

Presenting in Czech is no easy task, yet the students of the Voršilská Centre at the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies, Charles University, took on the challenge without hesitation. On Monday, 24 November, they participated in the centre’s traditional presentation competition. Eight contestants at varying levels of Czech delivered their topics successfully, showcasing not only their language skills but also their interests and observations from life in the Czech Republic.

On Friday, 21 November, the very first EduHub university fair was held at the Krystal Centre, offering students of the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies (UJOP) the opportunity to meet representatives of more than twenty Czech universities and their faculties. When the clock struck one and the day’s programme began, the corridors and classrooms on the first two floors of the Krystal Centre filled with preparatory-course students not only from Prague but also from Poděbrady. In addition to individual consultations with university representatives, students could attend lectures presenting the study programmes of various universities and faculties, their admission requirements, as well as topics such as intercultural communication and how to better understand and communicate in the Czech Republic.
