Czech Summer School Prague
The Czech Summer School (Prague) has more than 20year tradition. Our Summer School is designed for the general public, however every year several students studying Czech at foreign universities and a number of professional translators are among the participants. The course does not assume any previous knowledge of Czech, we always offer classes at various different levels (from total beginner up to highly advanced). The course is open to all students from the age of 16. Under-aged applicants must have their own accommodation provided for them, as well as a signed parents' consent that the school does not take any responsibility for them.
Teaching focuses primarily on language and communication.
The Czech Summer School (Prague) is an intensive course focusing on language and communication. We strike a balance between spoken and written communication, as well as between reading and listening skills, without overlooking grammar. The course is constructed according to long-term experience in language teaching and is based on modern language teaching methods. It corresponds to the Common European Framework for Languages.
We offer an extra-curricular afternoon and weekend programme (activities in the afternoon and weekend programme involving cost are not included in the cost of the course). The extra-curricular programme includes walks to places of interest in Prague, Czech film showings accompanied by introductory talks etc.
Participants who are interested in doing so have the possibility of sitting a Czech Language Certificate Examination (levels B1 and B2) at a discounted price. We also offer a preparatory course for this exam.
All course participants receive a certificate certifying their participation in and successful completion of the course. The certificates are issued by the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies at Charles University, but they do not carry the same validity as the Czech Language Certificate Examination (CCE-B1 and CCE-B2).
