It is designed for you if you wish to study architecture, design, visual arts, theatre, film, music, photography, dance, art history, cultural studies, and related creative disciplines in Czech at Czech universities.

The programme combines intensive Czech language preparation, portfolio development, academic subject tuition, and full support to help you successfully enter Czech higher education and adapt to life in Czechia.

What will you study?

To study art and architecture for free at Czech universities, you need strong Czech language skills, a solid academic background together with artistic knowledge and creative thinking.

 

The programme therefore combines intensive Czech language preparation with subjects that help students develop their portfolio, artistic knowledge, and understanding of culture and society.

 

All subjects of this Art and Architecture foundation programme COMPLEX are taught in Czech. At first, teachers use language with basic vocabulary and grammar. As students’ Czech proficiency improves, the language of instruction becomes more complex and increasingly aligned with university-level expectations.

Do you meet the entry requirements?

• Completed high school before the start of the programme. (You may apply before graduation.)

• No Czech language level is required.
• No English language level is required.
• Have a solid high-school foundation in relevant academic subjects (See the list of topics here) and proven interest in creative or artistic fields.

• You must turn at least 17 years old by 31 December of the year you begin your studies at UJOP Charles University. (Younger applicants are assessed individually.)

Czech language outcomes

At the end of the programme, you will take a Czech language exam. Successful students will receive a certificate recognised by more than 80 faculties.

The Art and Architecture foundation programme COMPLEX is designed to help you reach B1 or B2 level Czech. Students' progress depends mainly on their motivation, regular study, language aptitude, and previous experience with learning foreign languages.

If Czech is linguistically distant from your native language, you may benefit from a two-year study plan:

• Year 1 – Art and Architecture COMPLEX: beginner → B1.
• Year 2 – Art and Architecture PROGRESS: B1 → B2.
