Czech Language Students' Presentation Competition

On the 13th of April 2026, the annual presentation competition took place at the Voršilská Centre, giving participants the opportunity to test their presentation skills in Czech and to speak on a topic of their choice. This year, nine students from one-semester and two-semester courses took part in the traditional event. As part of their preparation, the contestants attended lessons in which they practised the structure of a presentation, audience engagement, and the language features typical of spoken communication. The smaller, more intimate format allowed them to refine their presentations before a panel of expert judges.

The presentation topics were highly diverse – ranging from Masopust festivities and cosplay photography to Transcarpathian dialects, music, languages, and gardening. The competition showcased not only the students’ personal interests and hobbies, but also their linguistic progress across different levels of proficiency.

At the end of the competition, the three-member expert panel recognised the three best presentations and also awarded the Audience Prize. First place went to Elena Milesi from Italy for her presentation A Dictionary of Authentic Italian. Second place was awarded to Hojeong Shin from South Korea for her presentation Korean Proverbs. Third place was won by Shirley Basauli Agustina from Indonesia with her presentation Gardening. The audience was most impressed by Rita Marraccini from Argentina, who presented The World of Czech Puppets and Their Significance in Culture.
