Charles University Summer School Among the Nominees for the DZS Award 2025

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, an award ceremony organized by the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS) took place at the National House in Prague, Vinohrady. The DZS is an organization under the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports that focuses on supporting international cooperation in education and promoting Czech education abroad. Each year, the awards are given to inspiring projects that bring new experiences not only to individual participants but also to the wider community.

Among the six nominated projects in the Flexibility and Innovation category this year was the Charles University Summer School: Discover Your Future, organized by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University in cooperation with the First Faculty of Medicine, The Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Humanities.

The programme is designed for high school students aged 15 to 18 from countries around the world, including the Czech Republic. It introduces them through different engaging activities to study programmes taught in English at Charles University. Participants visit selected faculties where they attend classes led by experienced lecturers, gain better understanding about their potential future studies, and receive guidance and advice regarding admission requirements. In this way, they experience the university environment firsthand and can better determine which field of study will suit them best.

In addition to the academic component, the summer school also offers a rich cultural program, where the students visit not only Prague but also cities such as Kutná Hora and Poděbrady. As part of international cooperation, participants also visit a partner university in Dresden, Germany.

Applications for the next year’s summer school (summer 2026) are already open. Students can look forward to an expanded range of activities thanks to a new collaboration with the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, as well as experiences that will enrich both the academic and personal development.
