Students Speaking Twenty-Three Languages Met at the Find Your Czech! Event

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the traditional event Find Your Czech! took place at the UJOP Voršilská Centre in Prague. Its aim is to connect foreigners studying Czech with Czechs who want to improve their foreign language skills through conversations with native speakers.

This year, 163 participants speaking 23 different languages gathered in the beautiful setting of the Arnošt of Pardubice Dormitory. Among them were students from less typical destinations such as Thailand, the Philippines, and Colombia.

In the former chapel, part of the group was welcomed by Marie Poláčková, the main organizer from UJOP. However, even those who met in six additional classrooms—due to the large number of participants—did not miss the opening remarks. Larger groups who came to practice Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, or Spanish watched a recorded introduction prepared for them on interactive whiteboards.

After a brief opening, participants launched into conversation. Some groups quickly clicked and engaged in lively discussions, while others needed a bit more time to warm up. Organizers Nikola Popperová and Karolína Pavlíková, together with other team members, were available throughout the event to facilitate communication.

At the end, students exchanged contacts so they could continue practicing together beyond the event. They said goodbye with smiles and hopes that similar meetings would take place again next year. The entire afternoon unfolded in a warm, friendly atmosphere, fulfilling its main goal—to bring together people from around the world and help them improve their language skills in an environment full of understanding and cultural exchange.
