'Waystage Czech' Online Course (A2 level, CEFR)

This online Waystage Czech Language Course is intended for anyone who has achieved A1 level (according to the CEFR) in their language skills and wants to advance to A2 level (CEFR) or who needs to review their knowledge and skills at this level. The course offers instruction in English, Russian, Spanish, French and German (i.e. exercise instructions, dictionaries and explanatory texts). Student services, technical support and tutors provide assistance in English or Czech. Should you need translation of their messages to your language, you can use translation tools such as Google Translate.

The course consists of 15 lessons divided into 5 modules:

Module 1

Lesson 1: What, who, where, what kind of... is it?

Vocabulary

  • What, who, where, what kind of... is it? - description of places, people and things and their characteristics

Grammar

  • Revision - alphabet, grammatical genders, nom. sg. and pl. M, F, N, cardinal numbers, formulating questions, present tense of verbs

Sociocultural Aspects

  • Czechs - what we think of ourselves and what our neighbours think of us, Czech nationals abroad

Lesson 2: Lifestyle

Vocabulary

  • Lifestyle - daily routine, freetime, likes and emotions

Grammar

  • Revision - accusative sg. and pl. M, F, N, - form and function, time questions, vocative, present tense of verbs

Sociocultural Aspects

  • Traditional Czech food - recipes

Lesson 3: Employment and Shopping

Vocabulary

  • Employment - personal details, searching for work, interviews, CV, groceries and shopping

Grammar

  • Revision - genitive sg. and pl. M, F, N - form and function, future tense of imperfective verbs

Sociocultural Aspects

  • Labour market, employment of foreigners, unemployment etc.

Module 2

Lesson 4: What has happened?

Lesson 6: Living an active life

Module 3

Lesson 7: In town and in the countryside, weather
