Medicine and Science

Medical or Scientific Preparatory Courses take place in a North Bohemian city of Liberec and a spa town of Marianske Lazne. The students intensively study the Czech language first, professional subjects which are required for university entrance exams are added into their program later within the first month.

The courses are designed for candidates interested in the following subjects:

  • General Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Pharmacy
  • Specialisations in Healthcare
  • Geology
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Biomedical Engineering

An applicant may choose a one or two-year preparatory programme. The objective of both options is to achieve Czech language fluency at B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and to achieve a level in science subjects (biology, physics, and chemistry) that is standard for graduates from Czech secondary schools.

The one-year preparatory programme is especially suitable for those applicants who have good backgrounds in the indicated science subjects from secondary school, or for those whose language is not too different from Czech (Slavic languages).

The two-year preparatory programme is designed especially for those who have major deficiencies in the indicated science subjects or who did not study one of them at all in their home country, and for those whose language has a completely different structure to Czech (e.g. East Asian languages). It is possible to register for the two-year programme directly or to transfer from the one-year programme based on the results of a diagnostic test held in the second half of November. The objective of the first year of study will be to achieve Czech language fluency at B1 level according to CEFRL, and to acquire the basic terminology needed for the science subjects. The second year will then focus on improving the language level to B2 and on instruction in biology, physics, and chemistry.

Liberec Centre

We work together with the Institute of Health Studies at Technical University of Liberec, which teaches cardiology engineering as the only program of such kind, offering students internship at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM).

Study programs:
a) biomedical technology (bachelor's degree)
b) biomedical engineering (master's degree)

We offer attractive and modern programmes which prepare students for a career in biomedical engineering.

The first semester is focused on intensive Czech language tuition. In the second semester, students start with technical subjects, which are taught directly on the premises of TUL.

Applicants can choose between 2 types of courses:

  1. Standard Course (Czech language and technical subjects):
    35 lessons per week

  2. Intensive Czech Course (intensive Czech language classes):
first semester – 25 lessons per week
second semester – 25 lessons per week

Students may purchase additional subjects within their study plan.

In the 1st term, an intensive Czech language course takes place, supplemented with field-specific subjects from October (a total of 35 lessons per week). Students who buy an additionally purchased course (Intensive Czech Language) may purchase field-specific subjects of their own choice upon the commencement of the course.

In the 2nd term, the teaching of the field-specific subjects is increased, and the students intensively prepare for the entrance exams for their chosen universities.

Both terms are completed with a term exam. Passing the B2-level exam (summer term) allows the students to attend Czech universities.
