Czech for Compatriots
The course is intended for Czech compatriots living abroad, who want to learn the language of their forefathers or hone their proficiency in it. Students have an opportunity to immerse themselves in Czech culture and visit some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the Czech Republic. The course is open for students ranging from beginners to advanced (levels A1 to B2). The course graduates will obtain a certificate of attendance. Participants also have the possibility to take a Czech Language Certificate Exam (CCE) which verifies their achieved level of language proficiency (its price is not included in the course price).
Applicants have to be older than 18 years to take part (younger students need to be accompanied by their legal representative).
It is possible to attend the course on a scholarship provided by the Programme for the Support of Czech Cultural Heritage Abroad.
COURSE PROGRAM
- intensive course of Czech language (90 classes / 4 weeks)
- afternoon activities and lectures on Czech culture, films, sport
- trips and excursions (all-day or half-day)
- social evenings
VENUE
Podebrady is located about an hour's drive from the Prague airport, it is a lovely spa town with a colonnade, many parks, restaurants and lively cultural and social life. The course itself takes place in the heart of Podebrady at a 14th century castle with a large garden used for a variety of student activities. ILPS CU Podebrady has a long history of teaching and hosting students both within the academic year and during the summer courses.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is provided in a hotel-style standard and offers twin rooms en-suite and a shared kitchen. Accommodation in single-bed rooms is not possible.
BOARD
There is no board provided but Podebrady offers a sufficient number of restaurants, cafés and bistros.
The scholarship holders will receive meal vouchers accepted in the majority of local restaurants.
